Ruby's Home for Good Nonprofit Celebrates First Year
South Montgomery County organization overwhelmed by community support. Looks forward to moving into new home.

September 28th, 2018 marked the one-year anniversary for Ruby's Home for Good, a Montgomery county-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing at risk horses and providing veterans and their families a journey to wellness and beyond. The organization champions the benefits of horse-human interactions through horsemanship education and a partnership-based model for veterans and their equine companions. President and co-founder Erin Malia says: "Our first year has been spent laying the groundwork for the future. We are on the brink of moving into our permanent home, expanding our herd and starting our veterans' program".
Community support will be critical for this next step and continued success for the nonprofit. “We have been overwhelmed by the early response to our mission”, Erin says. “When your passion to help horses and share them with our valued veterans’ families is shared by others, it reaffirms our confidence that our community will come together to bring tremendous benefits to all involved.” The organization relies on private donations, grants, and local business support for funding. Financial contributions as well as in-kind donations such as horse care and fencing supplies are needed.
Ruby's Home for Good plans to finalize their new location and start their first program later this year.
