'Sugar On Top' Creating Sweetness In The Woodlands
Looking for a sweet tooth fix? Some of these awesome treats from Sugar On Top might be more than just a little tempting

THE WOODLANDS, TX β Jeannie Godfrey didnβt start out wanting to go into business for herself. She was just someone who loved to bake and create treats for her childrenβs parties and special events.
But for the last several months Godfrey, with the help of her daughter Karley Myers and numerous other family members and friends, has been a cookie making fanatic and the do-everything gal for βSugar On Top,β which she operates out of her kitchen in The Woodlands.
βKarley is the one who forced it,β Godfrey told Patch. βShe started the Facebook page and it's kind of gone off like wildfire.β

In the confines of that small kitchen, Godfrey creates gourmet cookies for parties, baby showers, and even open house events for local realtors. All of them are almost too pretty to eat, but you'll do it anyway.
She's created cookies in nearly every shape, and even a few that were the talk of a bachelorette party not long ago. But there are other amazing treats such as cakes, and cup cakes, treats hand-dipped in chocolate and caramel, an sprinkled with nuts or sprinkles.

The tiny home-based business started as a hobby and something she did with the neighbor when her son and daughter were both in elementary school.
βWeβd get together and do the holiday treats,β she said.

At first, Jeannie would simply watch and see how her friend cut the shapes of the cookies, and how the icing was used to create the designs on top. Over the years, she practiced on her own and made sweet treats for family gatherings, holiday parties and other events for her family's activities, and never even thought there would actually come a time to venture out beyond her family.
βI just knew how talented she was,β Myers said. βShe doesn't give herself enough credit, so I gave her a push to do this, and get the confidence to start selling.β
In the first week alone, Sugar On Top netted 17 orders for gourmet cookies, which will keep her busy a while, Myers said.
Since the start of school and football season, Godfrey has created cookies for football parties, baby showers, a party for a dental office and a lot more. In fact, it's been none stop for three months.
Myers has also marketed a couple of online giveaways through Facebook and Instagram that have also helped generate enough business that have her thinking ahead to creating different treats.
Of course, Godfrey is also thinking ahead to the different holidays, including Valentines Day which is still months away.
βI just love doing it all,β Godfrey said.
