🌱 Boston Named Best Overall Player, Transfer Day + Missing STT Teen

The quickest way to get caught up on the headlines, upcoming events and everything else happening in the USVI.

Hello and welcome to the Friday edition of the U.S. Virgin Islands Daily. Let's start off with the headlines:

  • Aliyah Boston was awarded the Naismith Women's National Player of the Year, establishing her as the country's best overall player. She also received the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and the Athletic's women's basketball player of the year. Read more in the VI Consortium.
  • Officials want to better enforce the territory's ban on toxic sunscreen. Two and a half years after the ban took effect in the USVI, experts say many visitors still use sunscreen containing oxybenzone, octocrylene, and octinoxate. Lack of awareness is a major hurdle. Full story in the Daily News.
  • The VIPD are asking the community to help find a missing St. Thomas teen. Kidany Camacho, age 15, lives in the Oswald Harris Court in Charlotte Amalie East but often hangs out at the Kirwan Terrace Housing Community in Charlotte Amalie West. He weighs 150 pounds, is 6 feet tall and has a light complexion, according to the police report, via the VI Consortium.
