🌱 Bryan Warns Tax Dodgers, STT Airport Parking Update + More

Happy Monday, folks. Let's kick off with the headlines:

  • Governor Albert Bryan warned business owners on Friday that failing to pay taxes will lead to jail-time. The governor made those comments during the Spring 2022 Revenue Estimating Conference. Read more about why skipping taxes is a new concern in the VI Consortium.

  • Police say they have arrested and charged Kevin Jostes after he allegedly stole a rental car on St. John and then crashed it. According to The Source, Jostes took a Jeep Wrangler from a rental car company in Cruz Bay. The car was later found totaled on the road near Coral Bay. The manager of the rental company checked surveillance footage and saw Kevin Jostes entering the property around 1:30 a.m. and taking a vehicle.
  • Construction of the new parking garage at the St. Thomas airport is on schedule, but vehicles will continue to struggle to find parking in the meantime. Monifa Marrero Brathwaite, spokesperson for the Virgin Islands Port Authority told the Daily News that the new building will provide 319 parking spaces.
