COVID Cases Are Up, Positivity Rate Is Rising, And Another Death
There are now 127 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the territory, up from 77 last week.
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — The surge of new COVID-19 cases in the territory shows no sign of slowing down. There are now 127 positive cases and the death toll has risen to 28 after an 85-year-old St. Thomas woman died from the virus.
Government House expressed concern last week when there were 77 active cases. That number has shot to 127, four of the cases are hospitalized, and the positivity rate is up from 3.23% to 3.8%.
The newest spate of cases is cause for alarm. Esther Ellis, Territorial Epidemiologist, used the weekly Government House video conference to urge residents to get vaccinated.
