Detectives Find Body in Mount Welcome, Say VIPD

VIPD discovered the body in Mount Welcome, east of Sharkey's Bait Stand. The cause of death is still unknown.

ST. CROIX, USVI — Detectives with the Virgin Islands Police Department discovered the dead body of a male on Tuesday night.

At 8:10 p.m, detectives discovered a vehicle parked on the roadside in Mount Welcome, east of Sharkey’s Bait Stand. The car was registered to a person who had been reported missing. Upon investigation of the surrounding area, detectives found the body of a Black male in the advanced stages of decomposition. Police were unable to determine a positive identification.

The cause of death is presently under investigation, pending an autopsy.
