Hurricane Sam Grows Stronger But Should Bypass USVI
Sam, now a Hurricane, will likely become a major hurricane before the end of the weekend.

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Hurricane Sam is officially the seventh hurricane of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season. Sam is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane between Friday and Saturday, but the project path avoids hitting the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Sam is currently east-southeast of the Leeward Island and is moving west at about 15 mph. Experts expect it to slow down over the weekend and turn toward the west-northwest, avoiding landfall.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph.
