Hurricane Sam is "Small But Ferocious"

Forecasters expect Sam to keep growing stronger and now there are two more systems headed our way.

U.S. Virgin Islands — Experts are watching Sam closely as the major hurricane grows stronger. That said, as of Sunday night, Sam is still expected to veer north-northwest and avoid landfall.

The storm is currently moving northwest at about 7 mph and it is expected to move in this direction and at this speed over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are now near 150.

The good news: the National Hurricane Center has not issued any coastal advisories since forecasters expect the storm to steer clear of land.

Even more good news: except some very big swell this week!

But we're not through with hurricane season, yet. The NHC is watching two new areas off the coast of Africa for potential storm development. Both systems have a 70% chance of becoming a storm before the weekend.
