Judicial Branch Makes All Proceedings Virtual Due To COVID-19

The Superior Court of the Virgin Islands and the Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands will hold all proceedings virtually during August.

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Starting on August 2, the Judicial Branch of the Virgin Islands will not hold any in-person court services or proceedings. Last week, Chief Justice Rhys S. Hodge signed an administrative order suspending in-person proceedings from August 1 through August 31 due to the spike in COVID-19 cases and the confirmation of the Delta variant in the territory.

This does not mean that scheduled proceedings are cancelled, but rather everything scheduled to occur between August 1-31 will be heard remotely. This applies to all services and proceedings in the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands and the Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands.

Some judges may choose to hold sessions in-person and can do so if the proceeding is necessary and would not function as well if conducted remotely.
