🌱 Man Found Dead In Tub May Be Homicide + New CDC Vaccine Data

  • A man was found dead in a bathtub in a home in Frederiksted on Friday evening and police are investigating it as a homicide. According to the VIPD, a woman called the Emergency Call Center to request a welfare check on a man she had been trying to reach. She also noticed the door of the house was open. The woman also flagged down a passing police car. Officers entered the house and found the man unresponsive in the tub. Full story in the VI Consortium.
  • St. John Brewers opened a new retail storefront and tasting room in the St. Thomas Historic District on the waterfront. Read more in News of St. John.
  • New research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that getting the COVID-19 vaccine while pregnant may help protect their unborn children. The CDC released data from a six-month study in which pregnant women received the 2-dose RNA COVID-19 vaccine. The results conclude a 61 percent effectiveness against COVID for those newborns.   • Comprehensive Orthopaedic Global performed the first outpatient total knee replacement on St. Thomas. The group has previously performed the same procedure on St. Croix. "We did the total outpatient knee replacement on Monday, and he was able to walk within 30 minutes of his surgery and was able to go home in 45 minutes," said Dr. Dr. Brian Bacot, lead surgeon and founder of COG.   • In the latest edition of "very valid questions on What's Going On St. Thomas," a gentleman poses the question: Does anyone know if I can own ostriches or emus on St Thomas? They don't scream like roosters or chickens and can lay an egg that can feed a house hold. Not to mention, they make great guard dogs.
