Mold Shuts Down VIPD Mars Hill Office

The office will be shut down until it is deemed clean and safe for employees to return.

ST. CROIX, USVI — The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Operations and Administrative Services building in Mars Hill, Frederiksted, is closed due to the presence of mold. The building will be cleaned and undergo remediation while it is closed.

Non-essential personnel have been ordered to work from home, said Police spokesman Toby Derima in a prepared statement. Sworn personnel are working out of the Department’s mobile command unit, parked in the western parking lot - Mars Hill location.

VIPD consumer services - Records, Firearms Bureau, Permits, Police Pavilion rental, etc. - will be closed until 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29.

Persons needing to file police reports in Frederiksted may do so at the VIPD Frederiksted Bike Unit Substation located at #1 Strand Street (between Kentucky Fried Chicken and the UCA Building).
