NASA Lands On St. Croix
A NASA team is setting up a lab on St. Croix to conduct weather observations.

ST. CROIX, USVI — A National Aeronautics and Space Administration team touched down on St. Croix this week. NASA will be conducting weather observations at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport and on the north side of St. Croix.
This project, which is a joint effort between NASA and the European Space Agency, aims to collect data on tropical convection processes. The team arrived in NASA’s DC-8 aircraft, which is loaded with research equipment to measure winds, aerosols, precipitation, and other conditions that influence convection from the west to east coast of the Atlantic Ocean near the Equator.
This is the first time the NASA team has set up shop on St. Croix as they usually conduct this research in San Juan.
