- The USVI is slated to receive millions of dollars in federal funding for road improvement and construction projects, but the territory likely doesn't have the labor force to support the high volume of projects. Instead, Governor Bryan expects a major influx of immigrants from Puerto Rico and across the Caribbean over the next 10 years to fill jobs in the construction sector. Read more in the VI Consortium.
- The National Park Service is exploring a land exchange with the government of the USVI for the purpose of building a K-12 school on St. John. NPS would exchange a parcel within the Catherineberg Estate (Tract No. 01-137A) for the island of Whisling Cay, which is currently owned by the USVI government. NPS is asking for public input to identify potential issues and concerns. NPS will host a virtual meeting open to the public on Thursday, April 7 at 6:00 p.m. and there will be 30-day comment period beginning March 28 and ending April 27. Read more in VI Consortium.
