Potential Tropical Storm Expected to Steer Clear USVI

Forecasters are watching a tropical wave with a strong possibility of forming into a storm, but the expected path stays far from land.

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are watching a tropical wave currently located midway between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles.

Experts give it a high probability of developing into a tropical depression (80 percent chance through the next five days) but expect it to head north, steering clear of land.
