🌱 Similac Baby Powder Recalled + Hospital Staff Shortages

Good morning and good Monday, folks. Let's kick off with the headlines - don't miss these stories:

  • USVI recalls Similac baby powder due to contamination, via Loop Caribbean News. The Consortium also covered the recall, and check the V.I. Department of Health's Facebook page for updates from the FDA.
  • Staff shortages continue to hinder operations at Schneider Regional Medical Center in St. Thomas. The ER, for example, can currently only run at 75% capacity, via The Daily news.
  • Dr. Glenda Wrensford opened a new surgical center on St. Thomas, the Early Bird Surgical Center. The center is located at Al Cohen’s Plaza on Raphune Hill.   • The Virgin Islands Police Department is looking for Tyler Delroy Smith. Smith has been charged with first-degree murder in the 2021 homicide of Nancy Nieves Naar. Naar's body was found on the side of the road in Estate St. John in Christiansted. She was beaten beyond recognition. Police are asking the community for assistance finding Smith. According to the VIPD, he is considered "extremely dangerous, via the VI Consortium.
