π± STT-STJ Police Chief Steps Down, 3 Injured In STT Shooting

- The St. Thomas-St. John Police Chief Barrington Thomas Sr. is stepping down from his post but remaining with the V.I. Police Department. He told The Daily News that he receive his new assignment from incoming Police Commissioner Ray Martinez. Police Chief Thomas has been with the V.I. Police Department for 35 years. He began is tenure as acting St. Thomas-St. John police chief on Sept. 3, 2021.
- Three people were injured when a gunman opened fire in Hospital Ground on Tuesday afternoon. The victims, two women and one man, were driving through Hospital Ground when a man stepped into the street and started shooting, say police. No one was hit by bullets, but the victims were injured when the car windows shattered. Full story via The Source.
- The new St. Thomas East End Medical Center is scheduled to break ground this year, says clinic Director Moleto Smith. The clinic is a federally funded outpatient center that will see children, adults and seniors. Smith told The Source that his team is eyeing a location near Raphune Hill Road.
- More than 700 Virgin Islanders have applied for Emergency Rental Assistance, but only 195 have received help. Read the full story in the VI Consortium.
