U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Good morning and happy Car Free Day! World Car Free Day is a budding holiday that encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day. It is celebrated every September 22 and while not widely known, the holiday is being heralded by some right here in the Territory.

The Virgin Islands Cycling Federation is encouraging folks to hang up their keys and bike to work. If that sounds dangerous, or exhausting, or just too hot, consider other ways to celebrate this well-intentioned holiday: carpool with a friend, take a shared taxi, or pitch your boss on working from home.
