π± Two Men Arrested After Boat Chase + USVI Women Empowering Women

Hi folks, here are the latest headlines from across the territory:
- Wesley Albert Amaro and Brian Santiago Gonzalez, both of Puerto Rico, were arrested on St. Thomas after leading leading authorities on a boat chase and dumping almost 80 kilograms of cocaine. According to court documents, the men were stopped near Savanah Island on Tuesday at 4 a.m. after the Coast Guard detected a vessel operating without navigation lights. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations attempted to stop the vessel, but the men fled while throwing bags overboard. The agents disabled the vesselβs engine, arrested the men, and recovered three duffel bags containing 79 kilograms of suspected cocaine. Read more in The Source.
- Female entrepreneurs celebrated the launch of EMPOW(HER) Magazine, the first a bi-annual magazine to focus on businesswomen and female entrepreneurs in the USVI. Read more about it in the VI Consortium.

- The West Indian Co. is talking to the V.I. Port Authority about merging operations. But little is being shared beyond that, with representatives from both organizations declining to provide details to senators during a committee hearing on Tuesday, citing nondisclosure agreements.
