🌱 V.I. Carnival Committee Sues Dept. Of Tourism + Illegal Guns

  • The Source is publishing a series of stories investigating illegal guns in the USVI and the first article is up. Mat Probasco digs into how access to illegal guns is fueling the recent spat of criminal incidents. I highly recommend reading.
  • The V.I. Carnival Committee filed a lawsuit against the V.I. Dept. of Tourism and Division of Festivals on Monday for trademark infringement in the District Court of the Virgin Islands. The V.I. Carnival Committee is accusing the Dept. of Tourism and the Division of Festivals of using its trademarks "St. Thomas Carnival" and "Virgin Islands Carnival" while the 2020 annual carnival in St. Thomas.   • The Virgin Islands Police Department is starting a task force to address the growing use of marijuana edibles among teenagers. The task force will work with the Department of Health and the Department of Education to educate students and parents about the risk of using edibles.   • The St. John community is rallying to assist the victims of the apartment fire that occurred last week in Estate Grunwald, St. John. None of the building residents were injured in the fire, but 16 individuals, two of which are children, are in need of new homes. Find out who is raising funds and how you can help in The Source.
