VIPD Investigating Fatal Car Accident On St. Croix

The driver, 31-year-old Andre P. Auguste, died on the scene.

ST. CROIX, USVI — Police responded to a one-car accident on Midland Road, Estate Calquohoun just before midnight on October 1. Officers found a badly damaged vehicle and an unresponsive male just off the road. The preliminary investigation revealed the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit the sidewalk, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The driver was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was later identified by his family as 31-year-old Andre P. Auguste of Upper Love. He died on the scene.

While investigating the scene, VIPD officers discovered a handgun a few feet from Auguste’s body and confirmed it was an unlicensed firearm.
