WAPA Outages Across St. Thomas Today

WAPA is reporting power outages on feeders 6B, 7A, 7B, 8A, 8B, 9B and 9E.

ST. THOMAS, USVI — The V.I. Water and Power Authority announce power outages Monday morning affecting customers on the following feeders: 6B, 7A, 7B, 8A, 8B, 9B and 9E.

WAPA says that line crews have been deployed to repair downed primary service lines in the Subbase area of St. Thomas.

The interruption affecting customers on Feeders 7B and 9E is due to a failure of transmission equipment at the Donald Francois electrical substation in Long Bay. WAPA says that line crews have been mobilized to reconfigure the electric grid and restore service to the affected customers.

Update as of 12:44 p.m.: WAPA announced that line crews have completed repairs to a number of compromised primary service lines in the Subbase area and are in process of restoring service to customers on Feeders 6B, 7A, 8A, 8B and 9B. A statement read, "Unrelated to this outage, repairs are continuing at the Donald Francois electrical substation which experienced equipment failure shortly before 6 a.m. today. Until those repairs are completed, customers on Feeder 9C and 10B will experience an electrical service interruption. The affected areas include a portion of Havensight, Bakkeroe, Bolongo, Mariendahl, Marienhoj, Bovoni and Nadir. Estimated restoration time is two hours."
