U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — A major power outage caused 911 services to fail across the territory on Monday, leaving Virgin Islanders with little explanation as to what happened. The V.I. Water and Power Authority's Randolph Harley power plant failed on Monday, as reported by The Virgin Islands Daily News, but no additional detail was shared.

Instead, the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency issued an alert that read, “Due to the islandwide power outage, 911 STT is currently down unable to take emergency phone calls at this time.”

911 services were restored on Monday afternoon.
