Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid and has quickly become the leading cause of opioid deaths in the United States, setting new records in 2022, according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. Often referred to as opioid poisoning because other drugs ranging from marijuana to NDMA are laced with it, fentanyl overdose deaths grew exponentially among teens in the nation’s largest states between 2020 and 2022.
