WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bill Shine, who served in the White House as assistant to the president and communications director, has resigned, the White House said in a statement. Shine, who worked for years at Fox News before being ousted from the network in the aftermath of a sexual harassment scandal, offered his resignation Thursday evening.

The White House said Shine would serve as senior advisor in Trump's 2020 reelection campaign.

"Bill Shine has done an outstanding job working for me and the Administration. We will miss him in the White House, but look forward to working together on the 2020 Presidential Campaign, where he will be totally involved," President Trump said in a statement. "Thank you to Bill and his wonderful family!"
