Eric Trump: The President's Critics Are 'Not Even People'

"I've never seen hatred like this," Eric Trump said. "To me, they're not even people."

NEW YORK, NY — Eric Trump, the son of the president who is currently leading the Trump Organization with his brother Donald Jr., is facing blowback for saying his family's critics are "not even people" on Fox News.

Asked on air by host Sean Hannity Tuesday how he was reacting to the criticism his father and his family have received since the inauguration, Trump said, "I've never seen hatred like this. To me, they're not even people. It's so, so sad. Morality is just gone. Morals have flown out the window." He continued: "You see the Democratic Party: They're imploding. They're imploding. They have no message. You see the head of the DNC, who is a total whack job, there's no leadership there. And so what do they do? They become obstructionists."

These comments come in the wake of Kathy Griffin's photo shoot last week in which the comedian held up a prop that looked like President Trump's severed bloody head. Observers from all corners quickly denounced the photos, and Griffin apologized for the photos and took them down the same day they went up. Griffin later criticized the president for his reaction to the stunt, calling him a bully and said his response incited death threats against her.

But the president and his family have faced criticism on multiple fronts. Eric Trump also came under criticism Tuesday when Forbes reported that his charity funneled money that was supposed to go to sick children into the Trump Organization's businesses, potentially violating the law.

DNC Chair Tom Perez, who Trump called a "whack job," responded to the comments on Twitter: "Eric, Democrats are people. So are Muslims, immigrants, women, people with pre-existing conditions, and everyone else Trump is hurting."
