Hillary Clinton's 2016 Election Memoir Now Has A Title

"I'm letting my guard down," the former secretary of State says in the book's introduction.

NEW YORK, NY — Ever wonder what Hillary Clinton was thinking during the 2016 presidential election, one of the most tumultuous and consequential political contests of our times? Her new memoir on the campaign will attempt to provide an answer.

The book will be titled simply, "What Happened" — notice the lack of a question mark — publisher Simon and Schuster announced Thursday. (For more information on this and other political stories, subscribe to the White House Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

"In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net," she writes in the book's introduction. "Now I’m letting my guard down."

The book's description says Clinton will take the reader inside "an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules."

The publisher is preparing to publish the book in September. See the full description of the book at Simon and Schuster.
