'Morning Joe' Hosts Say 'Donald Trump Is Not Well'
"Our concerns about his unmoored behavior go far beyond the personal," Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough say in a Washington Post op-ed.

WASHINGTON, DC — Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough raised questions Friday morning about President Trump's fitness for office in a Washington Post op-ed titled "Donald Trump Is Not Well." The piece comes just a day after the president's widely condemned attack on the pair on Twitter Thursday morning, calling Scarborough "psycho" and Brzezinski "low IQ" while also making comments about her supposedly having cosmetic surgery.
"President Trump launched personal attacks against us Thursday, but our concerns about his unmoored behavior go far beyond the personal," they wrote. "America’s leaders and allies are asking themselves yet again whether this man is fit to be president."
They go on to essentially accuse the president of blackmail, saying his staffers urged the pair to apologize for their coverage of the president. In exchange, Trump would call the National Enquirer and torpedo a damaging story about their relationship. Brzezinski and Scarborough are now engaged, though they were both previously married to other people.

"We have known Mr. Trump for more than a decade and have some fond memories of our relationship together," they wrote. "But that hasn’t stopped us from criticizing his abhorrent behavior or worrying about his fitness."
Trump responded to the pair's story on Twitter:

Watched low rated @Morning_Joe for first time in long time. FAKE NEWS. He called me to stop a National Enquirer article. I said no! Bad show

In response, Scarborough wrote: "Yet another lie. I have texts from your top aides and phone records. Also, those records show I haven't spoken with you in many months."
The National Enquirer issued a statement denying any cooperation in potential blackmail:
