President Trump's Handshake With President Macron Lasts Uncomfortable 25 Seconds

Few people have the stamina for this prolonged goodbye.

WASHINGTON, DC — In an impressive tug-of-war that would make most people unbearably uncomfortable, President Trump and French President Macron shook hands for about 25 seconds Friday at the end of the international visit.

Trump is known for his aggressive hand-shaking style, a domineering greeting that has resulted in plenty of awkward photo ops. Macron, for his part, has typically been prepared to meet Trump's handshake with equal control and force, not to be cowed by a world leader who physically towers over him. But this extended handshake appears to show less of a power struggle than usual. Instead, the extended goodbye seems almost as much the result of absent-mindedness than dominance, even as French First Lady Brigitte Macron leans in for her own farewell. Watch the interaction below:
