President Trump Under Investigation For Obstruction Of Justice: Washington Post

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is looking into Trump's conduct as potential obstruction of justice, sources tell the Washington Post.

WASHINGTON, DC — Special Counsel Robert Mueller is currently examining the question of whether President Trump obstructed justice in the course of the FBI's Russia investigation, according to a Washington Post report citing anonymous officials. The special counsel oversees the investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election and potential collusion with the Trump campaign.

Trump recently touted the fact that former FBI Director James Comey confirmed that he was not a direct target of the Russia probe as personal vindication. However, the new report from the Post finds that Trump's decision to terminate Comey in the middle of that investigation, and then to say publicly that he was thinking about the Russia probe when he made the decision, led the special counsel to begin investigating the president.

Marc Kasowitz, the president's personal lawyer, decried the leak of the information but did not deny the report's findings. During his Senate testimony last week, Comey described his interactions with the president regarding the Russia probe as "disturbing" and "concerning." He would not say whether he thought Trump's actions constituted obstruction of justice, adding, "That’s a conclusion I’m sure the special counsel will work toward."
