President Trump's UK Visit Thrown Into Doubt After Queen's Speech
The White House says the invitation has not been withdrawn, but no date has been set yet.

WASHINGTON, DC — President Trump's upcoming trip to the United Kingdom was thrown into doubt Wednesday after Queen Elizabeth delivered a speech at the State Opening of Parliament and left out any mention of the visit. Since she mentioned the upcoming visit of Spain's King Felipe and Queen Letizia in July and typically mentions important state visits on the horizon in these speeches, British outlets including the BBC and The Independent reported that Trump's invitation might have been withdrawn.
“An invitation has been extended and accepted," White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Patch in an email. "The visit wasn't mentioned in The Queen's speech because a date hasn't been confirmed yet.”
Prime Minister Theresa May visited with Trump at the White House in January and extended the invitation. But many in Britain have objected to the prospect of a Trump visit, and reports suggest Trump may be souring on the idea given high likelihood that he'd be met with protests.

May's party was recently dealt an electoral rebuke, losing its majority in the Parliament and threatening her position as prime minister. Jeremy Corbyn, leader of the Labour Party and May's chief political rival, has been very critical of Trump and had cheered the prospect of a cancelled visit.
"Cancellation of President Trump's State Visit is welcome, especially after his attack on London's mayor & withdrawal from #ParisClimateDeal," Corbyn tweeted earlier in the month.

"Her Majesty extended an invitation to the President," Press Secretary Sean Spicer said at a briefing on June 12. "He's accepted that invitation and we look forward to scheduling that trip. But there is nothing that was scheduled, and we look forward to working out a mutually acceptable date with the United Kingdom, and then looking forward to sharing that date with you all when we have it."
