Watch Live Stream: Congressional Baseball Game Goes On After Attack
In a show of bipartisanship from members of Congress, lawmakers said they still intend to play ball.

WASHINGTON, DC — Members of Congress will participate in a charity baseball game Thursday night at 7 Eastern in Nationals Park, just over a mile from the Capitol Building. After an attack on Wednesday at the Republicans' practice for the event left Rep. Steve Scalise in critical condition and four others wounded, the game has taken on greater symbolic significance as a display of bipartisan unity.
"It has been our honor to host the Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park the last nine years," the Washington Nationals said in a statement. "This bipartisan event shows baseball's power to bring people together. Our thoughts and prayers are with the wounded today and their families." “The Congressional Baseball Game is going on tomorrow, as well it should,” Speaker Paul Ryan said Wednesday. "Now, knowing Steve Scalise as we all do, he is likely really frustrated that he will not be able to play in the baseball game. I also know that Steve wants all of us to commend the bravery of those who came to the aid of the wounded.”

Both teams have been practicing for weeks in preparation for the game at Nationals Park and we fully support the decision to play the game. We look forward to a full recovery for each of the victims and hope that tomorrow night’s game can play a constructive role in the healing process.
Rep Richmond on tonights baseball game: I think we will see a very partisan game where we go at it. Steve would have it no other way.

When Patch asked about the what security measures the United States Capitol Police had in place, it received the following reply: "The USCP constantly maintains a level of security necessary to balance openness with public safety.
