White House Won't Let Obamacare Repeal Die: Report
A proposal from Sen. Cassidy and Sen. Graham seems to have caught the president's attention.

WASHINGTON, DC — After the devastating failure of multiple health care reform plans on the floor of the Senate last week, President Trump has still not given up efforts to "repeal and replace" Obamacare, according to a Monday report from Politico. Trump tweeted multiple times since the failed vote on the so-called "skinny repeal" bill that congressional Republicans must not give up.
According to Politico, Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana planned to meet to discuss health care Monday with several top administration officials, including Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price, Seema Verma from the Medicaid administration office and White House Legislative Director Marc Short. Cassidy has crafted a new proposal along with South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham that would block-grant Obamacare's subsidies, preserve most of the law's taxes and end the individual mandate. It's not clear how likely it is that such a bill could pass. It shares similarities with the skinny repeal bill that failed 49-51 early Friday morning. And with Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain returning to his home state for cancer treatment, the GOP already lacks a crucial vote to pass the bill. Congress also has many other important priorities on its docket, including raising the debt limit and passing a government funding bill, which will take up a significant portion of lawmakers' time.
