The Robert E. Coulter Jr. American Legion Post 1941 is a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. We are committed to sponsorship of programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. Robert E. Coulter Jr, was a La Grange Area resident who gave his life in WWII. He was a LTHS graduate, and graduate of Purdue University. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1939. Major Coulter's B17 was shot down over North Africa on February 1, 1943. Post 1941 was established in June 1944, and named after Major Coulter in his honor. There is a plaque in front of the Post entrance, that describes Major Coulter's final mission.
