A seasoned performer with over 35 years on the road, Rory has toured extensively with The Makem Brothers, and the Makem and Spain Brothers and for 17 years played guitar with his father, Tommy Makem. He has played sold-out venues, festivals, and theaters throughout the United States, Canada, England, Scotland and Ireland. At his best on stage, Rory captivates his audiences with charisma, passion for the songs, poetry, history, humor and skilled musicianship. The love of song runs deep in the family. Continuing a legacy handed down from his Grandmother, the legendary source singer Sarah Makem, Rory pulls the songs of the worker, the sailor, the lovers, the fighters and the land from the pages of history and breathes life into them. An adept interpreter of folk songs, he masterfully accompanies himself on guitar, banjo, mandolin or bouzouki. Not limiting himself to the stage, Rory has played on movie soundtracks including A Fool and His Money, and The Lightkeeper. His compositions can be heard as the backdrop for PBS series as diverse as Tommy Tang’s Modern Thai Cuisine to It’s an Age Thing, to Simply Painting. Learning from those that came before you is the essence of folk music and Rory has had the great honor to learn from the best. Of course there were the many years at his father’s side… absorbing the master at his craft. He has also recorded with some luminaries of modern folk music; Tom Paxton, Noel Paul Stookey, Bill Staines, Eric Weissberg, Roger McGuinn, Dave Mallett, Gordon Bok, Jonathan Edwards, Rick and Ron Shaw, and Schooner Fare. Through more than a quarter century of plying his craft, Rory has established himself as one of the leading forces in the song tradition of Irish music… and so… the tradition continues.

Little Christmas - Nollaig na mBan - Women's Christmas
Women's Christmas, Nollaig na mBan, is traditionally celebrated on the Feast of the Epiphany in Ireland. This is a day which marks the end of the Christmas festivities. It has been considered a day off for women so that they can relax after working hard preparing for the Christmas celebration. It's a tradition we couldn't pass up on celebrating.
Please join us for a fun, festive night with friends, old and new, young and old! The night will include Disco Bingo, karaoke, best dressed contest, and other games.
Dress code: Shimmer, sparkle, and festive dress encouraged! There will be a prize for best dressed.
We will also be collecting items for our local food pantry, so please consider bringing non-perishable items to donate.
Light appetizers will be served along with a cash bar. 21+. No outside food or beverage permitted. Doors open at 7pm. Festivities begin at 7:30pm.

<a href="https://www.gadanband.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">GADAN</a> returns to Chicago Gaelic Park on February 1st!
Gadan is a storming new band blending the drive of Irish trad and bluegrass with the soul of folk and Appalachian roots music – all spiced with unmistakable Italian flair!
Founded by Lorenzo Testa and Jacopo Ventura – two renowned Italian musicians from the Irish and European folk scene – the project quickly evolved with the addition of Joan Gatti, an outstanding young fiddle virtuoso bringing a fresh and contemporary sound to the band’s identity. In 2024, Gadan expanded its international lineup by joining forces with Enda Scahill, world-renowned tenor banjo player and founder of We Banjo 3, and Eric Long, acclaimed Appalachian songwriter, singer and clawhammer banjoist from San Francisco.
With no less than three outrageous banjos, plus fiddle, mandolin and guitar, Gadan delivers a powerful strings-only sound that bridges Irish tradition and contemporary roots music. Their electrifying live performances combine precision, groove and storytelling, proving that you don’t need drums to make a crowd dance.

Each year the Merry Ploughboys join us at CGP for an evening of fun musical entertainment!Named after the ballad of the 1916 rebellion, The Merry Ploughboys are a traditional folk group from Dublin, Ireland, who have been “singing it like they mean it” for 30 years , with gutsy and engaging vocals backed by arrangements of fiddle, mandolin and guitar and often joined by uilleann pipes, whistle or tenor banjo.
The repertoire spans humorous old Dublin music hall and street-songs, classic ballads from 19th and 20th century Irish history, timeless songs of emigration and romance, and peppered with traditional Irish dance tunes and their own original material.
Doors open at 7pm.&nbsp;

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, the Bee Gees are the third most successful band in Billboard charts history behind only the Beatles and the Supremes. With nine number one hits and over 120 million albums sold, few groups can match the status that the Bee Gees have attained. JigJam returns to Chicago Gaelic Park on Saturday, March 14th!
When virtuoso Irish playing jumps the pond running naked through the wide open fields of bluegrass/Americana <a href="https://www.jigjam.ie/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">JigJam</a> is born. Bluegrass and American Folk music originated from the group’s home, and now JigJam is here to take it back!
JigJam made its Grand Ole Opry Debut in Nashville in March 2023 to critical acclaim receiving a standing ovation from a sold-out crowd on Country Music’s biggest stage. The group was joined on the night by Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Steve Earle, Lauren Alaina, and many more. This Offaly and Tipperary-born band has started the first wave of attack in the new Irish invasion of Americana.
‘Foot stomping’, ‘high energy’ badassery is what you’re in for when you see this musical powerhouse live in concert.
Founding members from Offaly <a href="https://www.instagram.com/jamiemckeogh/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Jamie McKeogh</a> (Lead singer and guitar) and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/daithibanjo/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Daithí Melia</a> (5 String Banjo and Dobro) were joined by Tipperary-born <a href="https://www.instagram.com/gav_strappe/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Gavin Strappe</a> (Mandolin and Tenor Banjo) in 2016.
