Eric Protein Moseley – Bio

Eric Protein Moseley is a Detroit-born social impact documentary filmmaker, homeless activist, and published writer whose work amplifies the voices of marginalized and housing-insecure communities. Growing up on Detroit’s west side, Eric faced early challenges including dropping out of Northwestern High School and navigating life as a single father during the crack epidemic. His lived experiences with addiction and homelessness have deeply informed his storytelling and advocacy.

Eric first gained recognition producing his underground documentary Skid Row Journey, capturing the realities of life on the streets. He later produced two PBS-distributed documentaries: Down But Not Out (filmed in Columbia, starring and co-produced by Eric) and A Cry Out to Obama (filmed in San Francisco, produced, directed, starred in, and scored by Eric), all while experiencing homelessness. He has since produced additional documentaries that aired globally, highlighting stories of resilience, recovery, and social justice.

As a writer, Eric has authored dozens of opinion pieces on homelessness, social justice, and recovery, published in over 30 outlets across the U.S. and six in South Africa. He is the founder of two global campaigns: Mandate Future Politicians to Prioritize Homelessness, advocating for homelessness to be prioritized alongside the economy, healthcare, and immigration; and Listen to the Voices of the Homeless: Homeless Voices Matter, amplifying the perspectives of those experiencing homelessness around the world.

Eric’s work bridges personal experience with systemic advocacy, using storytelling to inspire action and policy change. His journey from Detroit’s west side to international recognition underscores the power of self-production, perseverance, and giving a voice to those often ignored by society.
