Minnesota's, Lakeville's State Workers Should 'Be Ready'

State workers will receive 24-hours notice if their department's budget is signed into law.

Gov. Mark Dayton signed a two-year state budget into law that will end the nation's longest state government shutdown in a decade.
The Legislature passed eight bills as of 1 a.m.; Dayton won't sign any until all 12 are passed.
The House and Senate are debating and passing omnibus bills in rapid fashion.
The Legislature had passed all the bills by 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, and ended their special session.
Sen. Chris Gerlach said while not all the measures in the proposed state budget bills were ideal, he planned to vote in favor of all 12 bills before the Legislature.
The Senate is debating Health and Human Services, while the House is inspecting K-12 Education. Check back in the morning for further overnight results from the Legislature.

Once Gov. Mark Dayton received the final seven bills, he will sign the package into law and the shutdown will come to an end. Money could start flowing to state agencies as soon as late Wednesday.

It is “unlikely,” that state workers would go back to their jobs on Wednesday, because of the logistics of passing the legislation and contacting workers.
