After discovering her athletic talents weren’t going to take her anywhere, Kaitlyn decided to go to school to become a sports journalist. She attended college at the University of Maryland, College Park; and when she wasn’t at basketball and football games, she was taking classes.
Before coming to Patch, Kaitlyn interned with The Baltimore Sun sports department for a summer during school; covered the Washington Capitals for Inside Hockey; covered high school sports in PG County; and worked for Maryland Athletics.
Kaitlyn received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Maryland and began freelancing for several publications after graduation.
Kaitlyn began freelance writing for Bel Air Patch covering high school football and community news. She then guest edited in Pasadena for a few months before being named editor.
Other than reading and writing, Kaitlyn enjoys watching sporting events with her family and boyfriend. She also enjoys spending time with her rabbit, Jake.
