Adventure Cubs presented by Carter’s Charitable Foundation is for toddlers and their favorite grownups for a morning of exploration, learning and fun!
Embark on a new journey each month with a Zoo Educator as families get to learn and play together.
Engaging activities will get you and your little one moving and creating. Each month, young explorers will learn about a new animal through a game, craft, story, and singalong. At the end of the program, participants will visit the animal of the month’s habitat to make observations and draw connections to the lesson. You and your family will then receive a themed scavenger hunt to do in the Zoo on your own. This is a great opportunity to make friends and spend time with your little explorers as they discover new skills and learn about wildlife.
All topics and activities are designed for children ages 2-5, with opportunities for exploration for ages 0-2. During the winter months, this program will be held indoors. 2026 Dates: January 3 &amp; 15 February 7 &amp; 12 March 7 &amp; 19 April 4 &amp; 16 May 2 &amp; 21

Zoo Member Cost: $21 for a parent/guardian and child (each additional child participant will be $5/each)

THEMES:
Each month, a new adventure awaits with new animals to observe. Adventure Cubs will explore a new region of the world to investigate the animals and environments there! The purpose of each program is to expose young children to the diversity of animals around the world and to draw connections to the ways we are similar and different. For each adventure they go on, Adventure Cubs will engage in an activity, read a story, and create a take-away memory.

Trainer for a Day: World of Wild Theater
Imagine running a show when all of your stars are birds!
Become a Trainer for a Day at the World of Wild Theater presented by Georgia Natural Gas, and see firsthand how training is used to care for and connect guests to the birds while participating in the Fantastic Flights presentation!
Work alongside the Ambassador Animals Team to experience how these feathered friends showcase their unique adaptations in these presentations and learn about the positive reinforcement training that ensures that all of the birds are participating voluntarily. This behind-the-scenes look at Fantastic Flights and its amazing participants will give you a greater appreciation for the term “bird brain” and the important relationships between the birds and their care team. Participants can expect to meet members of the Animal Care Team, meet an animal, learn about our positive reinforcement training and enrichment programs, and walk away with knowledge of how to save species. All participation in Keeper for a Day programs is voluntary for the animals.
Before registering, please understand that during this program:

 <li>Participants will perform similar tasks as members of the Ambassador Animals Team, which may include raking, sweeping, hosing, scrubbing, and shoveling, and should expect to do some hard work and be comfortable getting dirty. </li>

 <li>Participants must have the physical ability to bend, lift, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. </li>

Join Zoo Atlanta for a morning of learning and discovery designed specifically for homeschool students! 
HomeSchool Academy is a two-hour program for grades K-12 that allows students to explore animal and science concepts in an engaging, interactive environment. Programs are grade-appropriate and include hands-on, minds-on activities and Zoo tours that hone students’ STEM skillsets in a collaborative environment.   
Spring 2026 Dates: February 11 March 11 April 15 May 6
Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. 
Member Cost: $105 per semester or $40 per program 
Non-Member Cost: $130 per semester or $45 per program  
THEMES:
K-2nd Grade Theme: Aaand…ACTION! Crawl, slither and hop with us as we soar and explore some of the different ways animals move. This semester will be a high-flying adventure filled with animals and ways they get their groove on.
3rd-5th Grade Theme: Gotta Go Fast From sloths and red pandas to ostriches and tigers, join us this semester as we visit some of the fastest (and the slowest) animals here at Zoo Atlanta. We'll discover why some animals feel the need for speed while others take the slow route.
6th-8th Grade Theme: Have to Have a Habitat Habitat, habitat, have to have a habitat. A habitat is so much more than just where an animal lives. Join us this semester as we aim to discover the ins and outs of what makes a healthy and happy home for an animal.
9th-12th Grade Theme: If I Only Had a Brain BRAAIIINS! Get your head in the game as we learn about not only our mighty brains, but those of other animals too. Are owls truly wise? Do elephants really never forget? Join us to find out!

Participants can expect to meet members of the Animal Care Team, meet an animal, learn about our positive reinforcement training and enrichment programs, and walk away with knowledge of how to save species. Join the Animal Care Team and one of our talented animal artists, meeting either the Zoo’s “VanGoat” or “Baaahlo,” and take home a unique work of art in this unforgettable experience.
Learn about the positive reinforcement training process of becoming an animal artist. See firsthand the ways this enrichment activity fits into high standards of care for animals at the Zoo when you meet a goat or sheep and see their art creation in action. Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific animal for your program.

We are here to engage and excite your young learners ages 5-11 during Winter Break.
Safari Camp is a great opportunity to engage young explorers in learning about the wild world around them and beginning their journey of conservation stewardship. Through Zoo explorations, up-close animal encounters, STEAM-based projects, hands-on science activities, environmental games and more, campers learn about attainable strategies and goals to combat environmental issues and are charged with finding simple ways that they can make a difference.

THEMES:
Each week campers embark on a different Zoo expedition, exploring wildlife and wild places. Young explorers will be immersed in hands-on, minds-on learning while having fun!  December 22-23 (2 days)
Protected Professionals: Lions, tigers, and bears! Oh my! These animals are wonderful to work with, but we have to be very safe in how we do it. Come along with us as we explore how we care for our Protected Contact species. At the end of the week, we will design and present a shift door to help our care teams safely move animals out of one space and into another so that we can perform critical care tasks on their habitats. It’s sure to be a roar-ing good time! December 29-January 2 (5 days)
Zoo in Review: Zoo Atlanta provides an amazing home to its many animal residents. As we continue to experience cold weather in the winter, our warm-climate animals need somewhere to go. During the week, we will talk about ways we can create a winter-friendly habitat for our summer-loving species. At the end of the week, campers will share their very own designs for a new winter habitat for the Zoo resident of their choosing! January 5 (1 day)
Who Pooed in the Zoo?: Every living thing eats, so every living thing poops… but not everything poops the same. Join us for a day of exploring how animal poop communicates with our Animal Care Team about the overall health of the animals. We will spend the day thinking about what makes a healthy poop across some of our diverse wildlife, and end the day with a scavenger hunt to see what kinds of poop we can find in the park. February (5 days)
Instincts and Influences: Are they born knowing how to do that? Why does this animal look like that? How do they do that? These are all fabulous questions, and all have answers as unique as the species that call Zoo Atlanta home! This week, we will dive into physical and behavioral adaptations that animals are born with or learn over time, how we encourage animals to use their adaptations in a zoo, and how those adaptations would help them survive and thrive in the wild. At the end of the week, campers will present a comic strip on their favorite animal to highlight some of the behavioral and physical characteristics that they have learned about.

Spend the morning working alongside the Elephant Care Team to prepare the habitat for the day and ensure the elephants’ needs are met.

Embark on a nocturnal adventure you won’t soon forget! 
When the last guest leaves for the day, we invite you to stay! Come find out what really happens when the sun goes down. Which animals stay up late and how do others settle down for the night? And in the morning, how do animals greet the day? Join us as we explore these questions and more on an overnight adventure designed for schools, Scouts, and other groups.
Participants will spend the majority of the evening outdoors walking around the Zoo with an Educator as their guide, stopping along the way to observe the nocturnal behaviors of the animals who call the Zoo home. During the evening, participants will have the opportunity to use night vision technology and will visit Scaly Slimy Spectacular to discover the nocturnal world of frogs, lizards, snakes, and turtles, illuminated by red flashlights. Participants will also enjoy a guided tour behind the scenes to discover how we care for animals every day. Learn about our new state-of-the-art veterinary complex, The Rollins Animal Health Center, and tour the Animal Nutrition Kitchen to find out what it takes to feed the Zoo!*  After an evening of exploration, participants will sleep in indoor, climate-controlled rooms with sleeping bags brought from home. And then rise and shine for more fun! Enjoy a catered continental breakfast from Proof of the Pudding followed by morning visits to animal habitats to see how our Animal Care Specialists help the animals start their day.
If you are looking for additional opportunities to connect with wildlife up-close, you can register your group for a 9 a.m. Animal Encounter for an additional fee. This encounter includes an exclusive 30-minute talk with a Zoo Educator and a visit with two to three small animal ambassadors before the conclusion of your NightCrawlers program. Note: We cannot accommodate specific animal requests for the encounter.
Participating groups are invited to stay and enjoy the Zoo at completion of your program!
*The behind-the-scenes portion of the tour is not fully ADA accessible.

<ul><li>Rain or shine. This program happens rain or shine, and much of the program is outside. Please plan for the weather and dress accordingly.</li><li>The Zoo is made for walking! Most of this experience is spent walking around the Zoo, and there are multiple irregular surfaces and steep inclines. Plan to spend up to 5 hours on your feet touring the Zoo.</li><li>Come with a full belly. While we will take a break for a snack in the middle of the evening, please eat dinner before you arrive. And remember to bring your water bottle with you.</li><li>Embrace the dark. It’s called a NightCrawler for a reason. Explore the Zoo by the light of the moon and our Educators’ red-light flashlights. Guests may only use flashlights at bedtime.</li><li>Rustic camping meets the Zoo. All sleeping locations are in climate-controlled buildings with a restroom either in the building or nearby.</li><li>Stay awhile. At the completion of your program the following morning, you are welcome to stay and enjoy the Zoo at your leisure.</li><li>Have FUN! This unique experience is unlike anything that you can do in Atlanta. We look forward to hosting you for an upcoming program!</li></ul>

No creature looms larger over the savanna than the African elephant, and you’ll agree when you come face-to-trunk with one at Zoo Atlanta! Meet Tara or Kelly while learning why they are such important ambassadors for their species.
During this Wild Encounter experience, you will learn about elephants with a Zoo Educator before heading behind the scenes to meet up with members of the Elephant Care Team and find out more about elephant care at the Zoo. Of course, no Elephant Wild Encounter would be complete without the opportunity to hand-feed one of the “girls” an afternoon snack.
