Massapequa Takes Action Coalition, Neighbor

The mission of Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) is to prevent and reduce youth substance misuse to promote a healthy Massapequa. Since 1997, MTAC has strengthened collaboration with key sectors and partners in the community including Massapequa Public Schools, Nassau County Police Department, parents, residents, youth, other organizations involved in reducing substance abuse, youth serving organizations, clergy, media, civic/volunteer groups, health care professionals, private and non-profit agencies, businesses, and federal, state and local government agencies to achieve its mission.

From 2014 – 2019, under the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS) Partnership For Success (PFS) Grant, Massapequa Takes Action Coalition contributed to the reduction of prescription drug and opioid misuse and reduced access to prescription drugs in the homes of Massapequa residents. Since 2018, MTAC has worked under the prestigious Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Grant, our nation’s leading effort to mobilize communities to prevent youth substance misuse.

MTAC's long history of prevention outreach provides a solid foundation to implement prevention strategies to address why and where underage drinking and marijuana substance use is prevalent in the Massapequas and change the environment whereby it exists.
