Email: samuel.bonacci@patch.com Hometown: Peterborough, NH Position: Editor, Marlborough Patch
Sam Bonacci has always been an inquisitive person and found a way to gain employment through this in 2007 as a journalist. He returned to his roots, in Peterborough, NH, while working for the local twice-weekly newspaper of his childhood hometown.
During his time at the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, Sam covered multiple communities and boards. What he discovered about journalism was the importance of close ties with the communities he covered. Having pursued the job for writing, which he had always loved, he found that it was these interactions that kept him coming back.
Since that time, Sam has worked at a number of news agencies. He has created online-only content and written for Worcester Magazine. Most recently, he was writing for the Gardner News covering everything going on in the city.
During his time with Gardner, Sam was able to truly learn the community's nuances. He believes news outlets should help to inform and facilitate the conversation. Sam strives to offer the deeper connection through his work.
Sam lives in Worcester where he previously attended Clark University.
He is a fan of anything with wheels (with or without an engine) and spends as much time as possible outside.
Beliefs At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for writers to inject beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that our beliefs are on the record will cause us to be ever mindful of writing, reporting and editing in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know. Politics I subscribe to people and ideas rather than parties. I have been a life-long independent.
Religion I had a non-religious upbringing with Christian overtones. I like Christmas, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.
