Southold Historical Museum was founded in 1960 to promote interest in and education about the history of Southold, NY. The Museum operates a number of locations. The Maple Lane Complex at 55200 Main Rd. includes the late-Victorian Ann Hallock Currie-Bell house which is fully furnished and features paintings by artist Thomas Currie-Bell (1873-1946), the husband of the Museum’s founder. Other buildings include the c.1750 Thomas Moore/Samuel Landon house, and the c.1700s Reichert Family Barn. You’ll also find the 1822 Bay View Schoolhouse, a Print Shop, Blacksmith Shop, a Corn Crib, the L’Hommedieu Barn and open equipment shed, and the uniquely circular 1875 Bay View Icehouse. Nearby the Museum operates a Nautical Museum inside the 1857 Horton Point Lighthouse, and a Gift Shop and Treasure Exchange at Southold Historical Museum headquarters and archives in the 1874 Henry W.
