Rabbi Mel Silverman, Neighbor

Rabbi Melvin Silverman retired in 2017 following a 21-year affiliation with the Malibu Jewish Center. Having planned to write a memoir and spend time traveling, Rabbi Mel (as he is known) relocated to New Hope, Pennsylvania and decided to dedicate his remaining years to public service through a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides online educational materials to underprivileged students worldwide. Mel’s vision and insight into helping others and spreading goodwill throughout the world is relevant and vibrant. He demonstrates on a daily basis how each of us can make a far bigger difference than we think. In addition to his work with this nonprofit, Mel is also a freelance journalist and essayist.
