1 Person Injured In I-66 Shooting Near Centreville: Police

Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on I-66 in Fairfax County Tuesday afternoon that injured one person.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Interstate 66 in Fairfax County near the border with Prince William County early Tuesday afternoon that injured one person.

Shortly after 1 p.m., police responded to a report of the shooting at the 50-mile marker, west of the Route 29 exit for Centreville.

Two Honda sedans were traveling east on I-66 when the driver of a white Honda began shooting at the other Honda, according to the state police. Both vehicles pulled over to the side of the interstate at the 50-mile marker.

The shooting suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody by state police without incident, police said.

One of the two people riding in the other Honda was struck by a bullet and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
