Alexandria Man Charged In Shooting On I-66 Near Centreville: Police

The Virginia State Police charged an Alexandria man with two felonies in connection with a shooting incident on I-66 near Centreville.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — The Virginia State Police charged an Alexandria man with two felonies in connection with a shooting incident on Interstate 66 near Centreville on Tuesday afternoon.

Daniel L. Serrano, 24, was charged with one felony count of malicious wounding and one felony count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, police said Wednesday. He is being held without bond in the Fairfax County Detention Center. His next court date is Nov. 6, according to the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the Virginia State Police said they responded to a shooting incident that occurred between two cars on I-66 in Fairfax County.

A man who was driving a black Honda sedan threw an object at a white Honda sedan while the two vehicles were traveling east on I-66, according to police. The driver of the white Honda, Serrano, then fired several rounds at the black Honda.

Both cars pulled over to the side of the interstate near the 50-mile marker, west of the Route 29 exit for Centreville, police said.

The man who was driving the black Honda had been struck by the gunfire and was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening, injuries. A woman riding in the black Honda was not injured in the shooting, police said.
