CVHS Field Hockey Wraps Up Quarter-Finals
Centreville lost to Oakton, but took a win over the Rams in the district quarter-finals this week.
varsity field hockey finished district play this week with a 2-1 loss against in a hard fought game in the rain on Oct. 18th. The Wildcats fell behind early, but came back and tied the game at 1-1. Late in the game, the Cougars succeeded in slipping a shot past the well tested goalie Megan Kruse who had seemingly blocked everything they had fired at her after the early goal.
Centreville made it to the second game by defeating in a defensive match on Oct. 19th. Goalie Megan Kruse kept the Rams scoreless through the entire game and two 7v7 overtime periods. The Wildcats prevailed with a 3-1 score in the shootout after four shots were taken. Wildcat scores during the shoot out points were made by Caroline Bollman, Katherine Zempolich and Maggie Dulkerian.
The team will play next week in the opening round of the Northern Region tournament.
