Dozens of Chickens Mysteriously Killed, Missing

Animal control officers ask for the public's help to find out what happened.

Fairfax County Police say 32 chickens that were killed and another 46 are missing from their coop in the Fair Oaks area—and they're not sure why.

Animal Control Officers responded to the scene of the attack, located in the 5200 block of Winfield Rd., near the Fairfax County Parkway, around 8 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 18. They found that the medium-sized, reddish-colored chickens were attacked, but officers aren't sure who—or what—attacked them. The chickens had been housed behind an electric fence, which was trampled.

If anyone sees the chickens or knows what happened, Animal Control asks them to call 703-691-2131.
