Female Pit Bull Found Fatally Stabbed Near Centreville Trail: Police

CENTREVILLE, VA — Animal protection officers with the Fairfax County Police Department are asking the public's help in identifying a suspect in the fatally stabbing of a pit bull in Centreville.

Officers responded around 9:30 a.m., on Dec. 3 to a small trail connecting Route 29 and South Barrow Court, after receiving a report that a deceased dog had been found near the wooded train behind some townhouses. The dog was described as a young, female, gray and white pit bull mix.

A necropsy of the dog revealed that it had been stabbed multiple times. Police believe that the dog had been left near the trail within 24 hours of it being discovered by a member of the community.

Residents in the O’Day Drive and Barros Drive area are encouraged to review any surveillance video that may have that was recorded between 9:30 a.m., on Dec. 2 to 9:30 a.m., on Dec. 3. If something suspicious is discovered, residents are asked to call 703-691-2131 and request to speak to an on-duty Animal Protection Police Officer.
