Photos: Community Celebrates Centreville Day

Thousands attend neighborhood celebration.

Thousands gathered in the historic Centreville district on Saturday for , the annual one-day celebration of the community's rich, 250-year history and current cultural diversity. 

The celebration featured a parade, food, vendors and trick-or-treating at some of the historical sites. The  Saturday; it is located across the street from the historic and directly behind the . Children enjoyed inflatable games and there were musical performances for part of the day. 

The day was all the more special because the 2010 festival was cancelled after its former nonprofit sponsor ran into some legal troubles. The festival was the fruit of efforts by the . There has been a town festival of some sort virtually every year in Centreville since the early 1900s.
