The held its first annual Field Day on Saturday, Oct. 22nd. The event was held to build community ties and raise funds for the new , a multimillion-dollar project .
Despite the event being rescheduled from its original date due to poor weather conditions, SYA's Karen Gentry said it was a great success. Kids played soccer, baseball, volleyball, and there were also 1k and 5k races. Gentry wrote a description of the day's events:
"The kids had fun jumping around on 4 large inflatables which included a maze, a huge slide, basketball hoops and a moon bounce. There was plenty of food provided by VA BBQ and for your sweet tooth Dee’s Funnel cakes were frying Twinkies while Pink Berry offered their delicious frozen yogurt. Parents made bids on the silent auction items and shopped at the Silpada jewelry tent. Of course you can’t have a Field Day without a spin on the prize on the price wheel and your picture taken with the Hoggetts. We also wanted to thank Sports Authority & Sport and Health for coming out and enjoying the day with SYA."
