Pottermania Sweeps Centreville Multiplex

Muggles and wizards of all ages turned out in full force for the latest Harry Potter premiere.

Local Harry Potter fans joined millions of others around the country in watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 early this morning.

By 8 p.m. Thursday night, the first fans had settled onto their spots on the floor, forming into two lines inside the . Many were dressed in costume: among others, Lavender Brown, Narcissa Malfori, a slithern, Bellatrix Lestrange, Severus Snape and Harry Potter all made appearances. The theatre played the show on all 12 screens and by 9 p.m. was close to a complete sellout.

At the front of one line sat Julie Rivas and Anthony Mensah, who arrived four hours early to secure their seats. Mensah had to be at work in D.C. at 6 a.m., but said he thought the wait would be worth it.

Just a little further down that line sat the DeBuss family, in good spirits and certainly not bored despite arriving at 8:30 p.m. for the first showing at 12:01 a.m. "We're with our family, there are people in costume, unlimited popcorn, our phones and nice people," dad Edwin DeBuss said.

Adriene Lowry, 19, was one of many people who came dressed in character. Clad in a black dress and cape, she was accompanied by two friends dressed up as Dobby (an elf) and Nagini (a snake). "Gotta go big for the last one!" Lowry said.
